Origin of Ghost Riders
The Ghost Rider history begins more than twenty thousand years ago when the immortals known as the Blood ally themselves in a struggle against a soul-stealing demon named Zaratho and the original Spirits of Vengeance. The Blood fashioned to win this conflict a mystical medallion of power that concealed the assembly of the Vengeance Spirits. In this medallion, also a bit of Zarathos was trapped, which led the Blood to decide that the item was too powerful to keep. The Gem was broken in fragments, deposited in two families' spiritual bloodlines, both supervised and guarded by a Blood called a Caretaker.
The arrangement continued until the 1700s when the spiritual lineage young Noble Kale fell in love with a woman named Magdalena. Noble hid his romance from the fear of the reaction of his fire-and-brimstone pastor father. However, Pastor Kale had a witch called Magdalena branded and burnt in the purse after he bore him a kid. She was cursed when she died and invoked in her name the fabled Furie Pastor Kale, and these ancient spirits had been wrecked by destruction. Pastor Kale sought help from Mephisto the demon, who paid for the Noble's soul.
In the Noble Kale Mephisto recognized and activated the Medallion shard, turning the young man on a living Spirit of Vengeance, a Ghost Rider. Noble vanquished the Furies, then turned on his father who sacrificed to Ghost Rider Noble's son. A shocked noble sought to kill, but Mephisto appeared to claim his soul. An angelic Uriel came in and stated that the soul of Noble was in heaven. Noble's soul did not belong to either Heaven or Hell, but instead would be conveyed to the emptiness which his descendents would call forth.
His first-born child, Naomi Kale, the birth mother of Dan Ketch and his brothers, lived in every generation with records in the first and first World War. In Cypress Hills, New York, Naomi left Dan and Francis Ketch with his sister Barbara in fear of his children. Her older son remained with his dad while she tried to put an end to the curse.
Dan & Barbara, who was the daughter of local Police officer and later, the target of Dan's amorous feelings was brought up in a happy, stable environment by local girl Stacy Dolan. During his maturation Dan grew interested and drawn to the wide road for motorcycles. Dan and Barb stumbling across the criminal Deathwatch after he killed a man on the bins of biologic toxins as he took a shortcut through the Cypress Hills cemetery. Barb's yells alerted Deathwatch and his lovers to shoot her arrowfully in the chest
In search of an escape, Dan brought her to a nearby junkyard and discovered a motorcycle in the heart of the trash. Dan touched her gas cap with his fingers pouring the innocent blood of his sister. A mystical metamorphosis was initiated by blood contact with the gas cap and the transition from Dan Ketch to the Spirit of Vengeance known as the Ghost Rider.
Barbara rushed to a hospital for Ghost Rider, but deeply comforted with her terrible injuries. Dan, furious, took up his new authority and vengeance quest. Dan was changed into a Ghost Rider whenever innocent blood was spilt, and his strength, especially his terrible penance stare, was utilized to exercise justice. In the beginning, Ghost Rider focused on recovering the now lost biotoxin at the heart of an ongoing struggle between Deathwatch and Crime's Kingpin. The pseudovampire blackout of Ghost Rider and Deathwatch clashed again and again on the bins which the cipress hill gang Jokers had uncovered and covered in the graveyard.
In a final struggle against the cartons, most of the three state areas of which would have been wiped off, Blackout began to sell them, but the Ghost Rider interrupted. The pseudo-vampire tried to shrink his mechanical teeth into the neck of the ghost rider, but he got burnt and made mad by the flaming skull of the hero. Blackout left, but Dan had become certain that he would be able to carry on combating crime as a Ghost Rider and promised to his comatose sister.
For Dan this was a very expensive pledge. Shortly after turning his Penance Stare on a criminal bunch, Dan determined that no one - not even lawbreakers - merited the torture. His friend D'Auria kept his motorbike locked, but shortly, when Mr. Hyde got into a rage he was pressurized to use it again. Shortly thereafter, journalist Linda Wei started lobbying against the Ghost Rider, which was equated with other watchmen like the Punisher. In particular after his teamwork with Punisher against the anarchist Flag-Smasher, Dan didn't appreciate the analogy. Ghost Rider refused to let the Punisher kill his enemy and said that he served revenge not death.
He helped Wolverine & Brass chase Deathwatch, who had abducted Watanbe's sister in a power maneuver against the Mandarin after teaming up with Spider-Man, the Hulk and Wolverine to form a temporary replacement for Fantastic Four (Fantastic Four) By this time Barbara Ketch stabilized, but was still comatose. A wall between Dan and Stacy was formed by the stress of recent events. When Dan's secret identity was found by Blackout, he slew Barbara into her hospital bed. A traumatic Dan took his wrath out on the crazed Scarecrow who took his old enemy, Captain America, in a murderous spree.
A shame Dan saw his life getting extremely complex. Blackout continued to target anyone close to Dan, slaying blind street vendor Mr. Larsen and the priest at Mrs. Ketch's church. A group of local parents accused Ghost Rider for the kidnapping and hired H.E.A.R.T., a whole female mercenary force to stop him. In the tunnels of the mutant Morlosses that were participating in the kidnappings, they ambushed the Ghost Rider. Ghost Rider was able to solve the situation with the help of the original X-Factor, albeit the media still portrayed it as a threat
He met Thor, then fought against Zodiak, after whom Nightmare, who believes he is Zarathus, abducted Ghos Rider and separated him from Dan. The Ghost Rider remembrances of Zarathos, which he nourished through Nightmare force, were however horrified when he dismissed them. Dan and Ghost Rider merged and left the realm of Nightmare just to be captured by Dr Strange and his partner Rintrah, who also believed that Ghost Rider is Zarathos. Ghost Rider convinced Strange of his mistake and helped the wizard to exorcize his ally Topaz from a demon.
He joined Moon Knight against Plasma and its Chefs of the Moon, helped Spider-Man rescue young Adam and helped short the revived warriors known as Shadow Rider against the megalomaniac Mys-demons. Tech's
John Blaze's entrance caused even more turbulence. In a binding spell the previous Ghost Rider trapped Dan, whom he thought was Zarathos. An explosion of Hellfire, however, jumped through his shootgun from Ghost Rider into Blaze. This released Dan, and also allowed Blaze to release Hellfire by the weapon that hit Ghost Rider severely.
This liberated Dan, but it also allowed Blaze to shoot Hellfire through the rifle, injuring Ghost Rider severely. Blaze relented when he realized that murdering Ghost Rider would mean killing Dan, whom he now saw as an innocent. Blaze functioned as Dan's defender from then on, convinced that the creature within Dan was not Zarathos, but knowing what the younger man was going through. Blaze and the Ghost Rider aided the extraterrestrials Gun Runner and the Enhanced in liberating inmates held by the alien religious fanatics known as the Cynodd.
Dan desired vengeance against Blackout, who ripped his throat out. Dan's life was spared by a transformation to Ghost Rider but he couldn't change it back. He could hardly talk with the Ghost Rider, caught in a void. Ghost Rider observed a series of people during one of her shared visions able to stop the ancient demons Lilith, the demon mother (Lilin), from destroying the borders between dimensions. In order to bring these creatures together, Ghost Rider teamed up with John Blaze and the mystery carer. He traveled to New Orleans during this period to find an alien group of Brood. During that time, Ghost Rider was shortly owned by a Brood, but Dan Ketch - while Swimming in the vacuum - may resist control by the alien. Ghost Rider has slain the Brood Queen with the help of John Blaze and the X-Men.
Dan started re-assessing himself as a ghost rider after Dr. Strange helped normalize Dan. He thought he was a positive force, but he wanted a normal life again. After his mother revealed that he and Barbara were adopted, this wish intensified. While their techniques sometimes overlapped, Ghost Rider and Blaze kept working effectively together. Both allied with Spider-Man to pursue the revival of Deathwatch, to catch Venom and a group of Deathwatch.
Soon afterwards, Lilith joined the old antagonist of the John Blaze Ghost Rider, Centurious. Together, both mystics abducted Dan's mother and took the charmed chain of Ghost Rider and turned it into a Centurious weapon. During one of their confrontations, a Ghost Rider seriously damaged Centurious, and accidentally dismissed Zarathos who lurked within Centurious since his detention in the soul crystal. Zarathos paired with his former disciples Lilith and planed to resurrect the Fallen. Caretaker revealed the genuine origins of the Power Medallion and identified Dan and John as brothers.Armed with this new knowledge, Ghost Rider battled Zarathos in a struggle that seemed to destroy both of them however, right before the assassination of John Blaze's wife Roxanne, Ghost Rider was replaced by Anton Hellgate, weeks later.
Dan relocated to a new apartment and started bringing his life under control. During the Blackheart affliction of Ghost Rider, Dan separated with Stacy and sought further answers about the origins of Ghost Rider.
Dan found himself in contact with the young sorcerer Jennifer Kale through helping Doctor Strange. Jennifer mystically released the memories of the Ghost Rider and re-established his familial curse knowledge. This much lightened the spirit of Ghost Rider, particularly after Jennifer Kale mystically forgot his secret identity for Dan's friends and relatives. Ghost Rider became finally conscious of his past as a noble kale, and began to work much more intuitively with Dan, helping his human host reunite with Stacy.
He has also worked together with Brother Voodoo and Dracula's daughter, Lilith, to oppose another Scarecrow attack, which had obtained the strength to live in others and had called Barbara Ketch's decaying corpse into his scheme. During this period, Ghost Rider had a short battle with Daredevil and blowed down their different techniques of capturing a crazed assassin.
His Spirits of Vengeance – Wallow, Doghead, Verminous Rex and Pao Fu – were later created.Noble was invited, when he refused, to join them and kill him. In Hell, Blackheart tried in exchange for Noble's promise to marry both PaO Fu and the mysterious Black Rose, covertly resurrected Roxanne Blaze to corrupt him, by offering to restore noble mortal form and lift the curse of the family. Noble agreed, but Dan refused. Noble agreed. Now completely removed from Ghost Rider, the soul of Naomi Kale led him to Hell, and he was killed after disclosing that the true destiny of Noble was to be the Angel of death.Ghost Rider used the powers which came under the heading to slew Blackheart and took on Hell's kingdom. Then he revived Dan and returned him to Earth to thank him jointly for his years.
Hell was a brief stint for Noble. It gently helped to track down a serial killer, Jack Russell, the Werewolf, but was thrown out of Hell by a coup.
. Injured and unclear, Noble strolled through the streets of New York City. This drew Spider-notice, Man's who sought, with limited success, to control his former ally. Dan got to the scene and found the strength of Noble was fluctuating since a human host was missing. Both men have to merge again and are seeking innocent righteousness.
Daniel must have changed his mind about becoming a host to the Ghost Rider at some point after merging with Kale again, because he elected to have it removed from his body.
He contacted a woman by the name of the paranormal advisor Mary LeBow, and exorcism divides the two. Then two years later, Ketch determined he could no longer exist and will try whatever to restore it without that part of him. Daniel gets his wish when a Zadkiel agent who is known as Mr. Eleven comes along and tells him that he can restore his skills. Ketch tasted it only at first and was addicted to power immediately. Dan craved more and more, but only a small bit at a time would be allowed to sample until he agreed also to be a Zadkiel agent.
A hideous part of the Ghost Rider was shown to Daniel, where the hosts can be spiritless animals if their psyche is within. It was made to believe that he would serve them by taking away their powers and returning them to the sky, from which they came. The only drawback was that some of the hosts couldn't survive – as Shoba Mirza was – but even if that was the eventual consequence, Ketch still believed he was helping. What Daniel did not know is that Zadkiel intended the Ghost Riders to control the heavens.
The new Caretaker Ketch, Blaze and they parted ways, but Daniel felt more slandered than ever. Seeing the mistake of its path finally, Ketch wanted him to leave the Ghost Rider behind rather than Zadkiel to delude himself. Daniel became a revenge slave for aiding the lay waste in Heaven, unable to ignore the cry of the innocent. His first task was to discover the wrong roadman and avenge their lives to go via his path. Daniel would soon get another crack of Zadkiel, but he would first have to deal with the devil in exchange for the Heavenly keys to keep the Antichrist safe.
As a Big Wheel and Trull attack slowed them down substantially, Blackout would seize the key, it would be difficult. The Gun Nuns' hideout answered that, so Ketch and Blaze had to find a new route to reach their targets. When the Ghost Riders arrived, they had to confront the new Orb and a fresh vengeance, although they did not prove too problematic. Another narrative was Zadkiel. When Ketch and Blaze reached heaven and faced the furious angel they were thrown aside as trivial splits. If the army of the Ghost Riders did not materialize, they could never vanquish their tormentor.
And Ketch and other Vengeance Spirits, as they invaded heaven, fought against an invasion by the Antichrist and his slaves. Now in the hands of God the sacred town was protected and the two brothers were returned to earth. Ketch challenged Blaze to a race, and the two did not spend too much time with Sara.
